Questlove is in charge of a new project that has another collision between hip-hop and Disney. The seasoned musician has established himself as a revered figure in the business. Quest is moving on to The Artistocats after assisting in the planning of a massive performance at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Questlove, actual name Ahmir Thompson, will make his formal feature film directing debut with this next project, according to an exclusive report from Deadline. The cartoon Disney classic’s new version is referred to as a “live-action/hybrid reinvention.” Quest will also play the movie’s soundtrack overhead. It’s not clear if that refers to the music, the soundtrack, or both.
In terms of the talent, we’ll have to wait for a declaration. Deadline did not reveal whether Walt Disney Studios had a specific actor in mind for the role just yet. However, it was made known that Olive Bridge would serve as an executive producer in addition to Tarik Trotter, Shawn Gee, and Zarah Zohlman of Two One Five Entertainment. This is a significant step for Questlove, who won the Best Documentary Feature Oscar for Summer of Soul last year.

One month after Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary was celebrated at the Grammy Awards, news of Questlove’s most recent performances has just surfaced. Without the assistance of The Roots legend, who planned for dozens of the best rappers to perform on stage together, it never would have occurred.
